“RADIO FREE EUROPE”
R.E.M.’s debut album, “Murmur,” was released just six months prior — on April 11, 1983 (following the brilliant “Chronic Town” EP the previous year). Rolling Stone Magazine subsequently named “Murmur” the best album of 1983 — a rare honor for a debut. Recall that New Order released “Power, Corruption & Lies, Violent Femmes released their debut album, and ZZ Top released “Eliminator.” Heh heh. Oh, and Madonna released, um, “Madonna.”
Wow Mike and Peter were very animated! Great to see their TV début; If only Letterman had known what was to come, he may have been more enthusiastic! Of course Michael HATES Letterman as only Peter and Mike talk with him until he leaves; then Michael comes out before starting to sing ”So. Central Rain” as seen here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZD2R7G3z6WU
And how could I forget? Michael Jackson released that album with, like 48 number-one hits.
Watch a very early version of “South Central Rain” here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZD2R7G3z6WU

What does Keith get along with *now*, you ask?
1. Kittens playing guitar.
2. Barry Louis Polisar’s song on “Juno”.
3. Wikipedia
4. Faroese hunters wearing dead puffins as ballet tutus.
5. Salsa music.
6. Learning Norwegian.
7. Saying “For Science!” when asked why I’m doing something weird.
8. Webcomics.
9. Summer Glau (and, by extension, ”Firefly”).
This list is by *no means* exhaustive…
I bet you five dollars they are playing “The Big Three Killed My Baby.”
Totally guessing, but of their very very early songs, that one was pretty popular and was one of the only that a barred G5 chord is primarily used (which Jack is playing in the picture). And he yells a lot in that song.
That song is so fun and easy to play (only 2 chords!) that they are actually performing it with their eyes closed haha!

We did a daytrotter session a year or two ago and it has made the light of day. I was a bit apprehensive about releasing something from so long ago, as we have been evolving a bunch with this new record, but I really love these takes. I also love the mixing that was done. So please enjoy and we look forward to letting the world here our new record. Its ever so close.
Guys, I love the “Light of the World” track…
